Foot care tips to put a Spring in your step !

Updated: Sep 19, 2020

Spring is finally upon us and we're sure everyone is eager to get out of the house and make the most of this beautiful weather! To help your feet look and feel great, we have a couple of tips and tricks you can utilise this Spring.

Supportive sandals are a thing!?

  • The warmer weather means we can finally kick our boots off and get our feet into breathable and lighter footwear. But don’t be fooled, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for stylish sandals! Here at Foot Body Sole we sell a vast range of sandals that not only look good but have built in support to help keep you comfortable and looking good. You can check out our online store and subscribe to our emails for future updates on our new season arrivals.

Are your feet perspiring more in the warmer weather?

  • If you are staying in sneakers, trade those thick winter woolies for a pair of lighter, natural fibre socks; such as cotton! Natural fibre socks can help reduce perspiration and moisture than can ultimately lead to skin conditions such as tinea. If your feet are still sweating, we recommend changing your socks more regularly to help avoid your feet staying wet and uncomfortable through the day.

  • Another great trick to help with perspiration is spraying a tea tree oil onto your feet! Tea tree oil is a natural antifungal and can help keep fungal infections at bay when you are unable to change your socks or keep your feet as dry as you’d like!

  • Air your feet and shoes out after walking! Spring is a great time to let your feet breathe after a long walk and dry off any perspiration. Putting your shoes out in the sun can ensure a warm, dark and damp environment is avoided. The sun is a natural disinfectant and can help take care of bacteria and fungus living in your shoes.

Are your heels dry from walking barefoot in the house?

  • Obviously, we’ve all been staying home a lot, and that can mean walking barefoot in the house. Barefeet can dry out the skin and cause cracks in the heels when the skin starts to lose its elasticity. Try using a pumice stone in the shower to gently exfoliate the dry skin on your heels followed by a foot specific moisturiser (we recommend products containing urea!).

What about nail polish?

  • If you are someone who loves to polish your nails when wearing sandals we would suggest using nail polish free from chemicals such as Strene, Camphor, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Tosylamide Formaldehyde Resin, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Benzophenone 1.

  • When you can, give your nails a break between nail polish of around a week to let them breath and recover.

  • If you experience a chalky or yellow appearance on your nails don’t worry! By attending a podiatrist, we can help to buff away any fungus sitting on the surface of your nails and recommend and treatment options that may be required.

Has this weather got you exercising more!?

  • Supportive footwear could not be more important when increasing your activity! Make sure if you are exercising, you are wearing appropriate footwear that offers your support and comfort.

  • We would also suggest stretching after exercise to help your muscles recover and remain flexible to assist in avoiding injury.

We hope these tips can help you enjoy your Spring COMFORTABLY! If you have any further concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us here at Foot Body Sole on 1800 778 316 or visit us at 82 Bridport St, Albert Park Vic 3206 ! We are here to help.
